Brief an access equipment supplier
Describe work position, reach, access and operating surfaces before choosing an access equipment configuration.

Share the height and position of the work, any horizontal outreach and the people, tools and material involved. Explain whether the task moves along a facade or stays in one position. Ask the supplier to assess a suitable configuration against the complete brief. An advertised working height alone does not establish suitability for a particular task.
Check the journey and work area
Describe doorways, gates, ramps, surfaces and turning space between delivery and the work position. Identify indoor or outdoor use and any operating constraints supplied by the site team. The appropriate competent people should assess ground, environmental and safety requirements. Keep those assessments separate from the directory's general equipment descriptions.
Coordinate use and collection
Confirm the operator arrangement, familiarisation requirements and who manages daily checks and fault reporting. Discuss where the equipment will be parked outside working hours. Agree the return condition and collection access before the work area is handed to another contractor. If the task or work position changes, have the supplier reassess the selection.
Put it into practice
An access machine may reach the stated height yet still be unsuitable for the route to the work position. Share doorway and gate measurements, available operating space and the intended surface with the supplier. Explain the people, tools and materials involved and any need to reach over an obstruction. Have the proposed configuration assessed by the responsible people before booking. If the work moves indoors or to another part of the site, revisit the selection instead of treating working height as the only unchanged requirement.
